Tony D’Amato (Al Pacino) delivers his inspirational “Inches” speech in the 1999 film Any Given Sunday
Inch by inch you keep pressing on!
The Green Lantern Corps are each armed with a power ring to protect the universe. The rings are fueled by the Green Lantern’s will. But after much use, the ring gets drained of energy and must be recharged. It gets recharged by placing the ring in a power source.
The Christian life is similar. The hardships of life can take a toll on you. It can drain you of energy and joy. But that’s why we constantly have to recharge by going back to the Source—back to the sun Son.
A lot of my close friends have been going through the motions lately. I’m fortunate to be given the opportunity to encourage them. But I run the danger of losing energy if I don’t recharge with prayer and reading the Bible. So today after meeting with my Bible study, I went to my room and prayed. I think I prayed like I have never before.
I was tired. I was weak. I desperately needed Christ. I needed to be strengthened again so that I could encourage again. And so my ring is recharging.
It’s so good to spend time with Christ. I feel free as I give Him my problems and my friends’ problems.

My weakness?
Red velvet.
To all the people I’ve hurt in the past or recently, I’m sorry. I’m sorry I allowed my ego or insecurities get the best of me, and in turn put you down.
The reason why many are still troubled, still seeking, still making little forward progress is because they haven’t yet come to the end of themselves. We’re still trying to give orders, and interfering with God’s work within us.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.
