jaredmaas:
And that is the type of person who tends to gravitate toward a person like me.
Sounds like an Emily Dickinson poem or a C.S. Lewis quote.

"You clean up well"
jaredmaas:
Isn’t it funny how “cleaning up” for an event etc. involves more application of gunk than removal? In which state, I wonder, are we the most clean or—approaching the crux—the most beautiful? Without or with gunk (even that which is artfully applied)?
I thought something similar. Although, I usually take “You clean up well” as an insult, as if I didn’t look nice...

fallingintohisgrace asked: I just applied to Fuller, specifically the M.Div (chaplaincy emphasis)! Maybe I'm just way too excited to see other people going to the same schools haha

WORD OF THE DAY: "Kairos," (καιρός)
The Ancient Greek word meaning “the appointed time in the purpose of God” As I’m writing about Andrew Park (co-founder of Urbane + Gallant) and (analyzing) the start of his men’s fashion company, I love seeing how God orchestrated things together, so that Andrew and others can do good and fight this injustice of human trafficking. Too many coincidences to think that someone...

Thank you everyone for all the birthday wishes and...
(Checked into 24 Hour Fitness)
24 Hour Fitness Employees: Oh Wow, Happy Birthday!
Me: Thanks! Got to work off that birthday dinner and desserts.
(10 seconds later)
24 Hour Fitness Manager: Okay guys, the computer says someone with a birthday just came in. Why didn't you say anything to him? You're supposed to--
Me: Oh, um, sir, it's my birthday! And they definitely wished me a Happy birthday! Thanks.
24 Hour Fitness Manager: Oh, ok. Great. I thought some of us weren't doing our jobs. (Looks at employees and shakes head)
Me: ...
24 Hour Fitness Manager: So how old did you turn? 21?
Me: Yeah, I wish!
24 Hour Fitness Manager: So 20?
Me: Yeah, been 20 for the past 7 years now.

One Day
Despite already looking out for one another,
One day, you will be my blood brother.
Transfused by a blood donation
From the one who died in propitiation
And as I pray for that coming day,
I already know the six words I will say.
“Welcome to the family, dear brother.”

Translating is difficult, but reading the Bible in...
Greek: "φόβος οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν τῇ ἀγάπῃ, ἀλλʼ ἡ τελεία ἀγάπη ἔξω βάλλει τὸν φόβον, ὅτι ὁ φόβος κόλασιν ἔχει, ὁ δὲ φοβούμενος οὐ τετελείωται ἐν τῇ ἀγάπῃ. "
My translation: "No fear is in love, but perfect love drives out fear because fear includes punishment, and the one who is afraid has not been perfected in love."
NRSV translation: "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love."

Aaron Laughs With Cancer: Cancer-Free. Exclamation... →
aaronlaughswithcancer:
The doctor called last night with the pathology results. We had all been waiting for them rather anxiously. After my surgery, the piles of lymph node tissue that were scraped out of my body were sent to the lab for analysis. (These were the cancerous nodes that Sarah and I referred to as the…
